Schedule for fundraising events for The John Dau Foundation

July 26              BRATTLEBORO, VT
                        Noon – 3:00 PM – John Dau and other Lost Boys, namely Atem Deng,
                        Achier Mou and Deng Adit, meet with a group of young people at
                        The Guilford Church to see the film GOD GREW TIRED OF US.
                        4:00 – 4:30 – Latchis Theater, Brattleboro – Music by Youssoupha Sidibe,
                        Kora master from Senegal
                        4:30 – 6:30 – Screening of GOD GREW TIRED OF US in the main theater
                        at The Latchis, 50 Main Street, Brattleboro. John Dau, whose story
                        is told in the film, will introduce the movie. $10 tickets available at the door.
                        6:30 – 8:30 – Buffet reception at The Brattleboro Museum and Art
                        Center catered by Tristan Toleno of The Riverview Cafˇ, for the
                        public, John Dau and other former Lost Boys. Cash wine bar by
                        Marty Ramsburg of Windham Wines. During the reception, balafon
                        music (a West African xylophone) with Steve Leicach. Tickets are
                        $30 per person; reservations required.

                        1:00 – Introduction by John Dau and other former Lost Boys
                        of the afternoon’s events
                        1:30 – Opportunity to join talking-circles throughout
                        the garden led by former Lost Boys
                        2:00 – Balafon music, African drumming, and Afro-Carribean percussion
                        instruments with Steve Leicach.
                        2:30 – See the gardens with Gordon and Mary Hayward or Kew trained
                        gardener Viki Ferennia, visit concession stands, have Malian food
                        from Dieneba Macalou and family from Malian Cuisine in Brattleboro
                        3:00 – African drumming with John Hughes and his drummers
                        3:30 – One hour concert by Youssoupha Sidibe with the Kora in the garden
                        4:30 – 5:00 – Conversations with the Lost Boys, Youssoupha, food,
                        wander in the garden

                        Copies of the documentary film GOD GREW TIRED OF US for sale.
                        Amie Walter from African Woven Arts in Bellows Falls will be selling
                        African fabrics and clothing.
                        CD’s of Youssoupha Sidibe’s music will be for sale.
                        Beadwork to support the 15 member Maasai Osotua WomenÕs Group from
                        Kenya will also be for sale. The mother of Musa Seno, a Maasai living in
                        Putney, VT, is a member of this women’s group.
                        Bill and Lynne Reed from Misty Valley Books in Chester will be selling
                        books about or set in Africa.

                        Take I-91 north or south to Exit 4, the Putney exit.
                        When you get off Interstate 91, get onto Route 5 North.
                        Go about one half mile into the center of Putney Village.
                        Turn left just by The Putney General Store onto the Westminster Road.
                        Go exactly four miles to the second entrance to McKinnon Road.
                        That is, McKinnon is a U shaped road and comes out twice onto
                        the Westminster West Road. Pass the first entrance;
                        Pass Josh Gold Pottery and then take the second entrance.
                        Turn hard right on McKinnon and you will be shown where to park.
